Here are a collection of articles pertaining to System Storage Manager or SSM. SSM simplifies the management of logical volumes among other functions. Creating a logical volume, formatting it to a filesystem type, and mounting it on a Linux machine, involves many steps. Those steps include running the following commands: pvcreate, vgcreate, lvcreate, mkfs, to name a few. SSM narrows all these commands down to a single line that if entered on the command-line (CLI), is equivalent to running a handful of logical volume manager (LVM) commands at once.
